2002 Camry xle, 4 cyl with moonroof.

Passenger side front under carpet is wet. I pulled the carpet back and I could squeeze quite a bit of water from the foam backing.

The water was NOT red/pink in color and no smell.

I saw the a/c drain hose. PICTURE below. It seem clear and plugged into the floor pan.

I am at a loss. :(

Is there a second a/c drain hose other than that black tube?

Some post says it could be moon roof leak. Where is the drain hose for that? My headliner etc is not wet! nor is the driver side.

Pull it loose from the end in the second photo. Then verify the hose has "free flow" and the AC drain tube port doesn't have a lot of water draining after you pull the hose off.

No the tube is not clogged. I even removed it from the evaporator end and checked.

There is some other leak letting rain water in is my hunch.

Other possibilities:
Moon-roof: Any idea how I can gain access to the moon roof drain tubes? BUT, I don' find the headliner wet...

Other sources? any chance of rain water getting in from like the cowl area?

There are 4 drain tubes from the moon roof, one down each of the A pillar and C pillar.
Do you have a copy of TSB-0141-08 (Water Leak at Headliner)? If not, PM me with a Email address, I will send it.

Wet carpet passenger side - NOT heater core, not moon roof.

So like the post says, the evap drain is not clogged and not disconnected.

Today, I removed the A piller and the headliner on this side. I saw the moon roof tube connected. The drain hole on the moon roof was not clogged. I removed the tube completely and cleaned it. Aside some minor crud nothing indicated a blockage. It seem to go loosely into a hole in at the bottom rocker panel, which I assume has a drain out to the road... I couldn't see that end of the hose from under the car...

So now, I am puzzled since it doesn't seem the heater core nor the moon-roof drain related leak. The water was clear and had no unusual odor.

The backing of the headliner is a solid plastic "foam". So any moisture on the back side will not show on the front side.
When you had the kick panel off did you see any evidence of a moisture trail?

Check all around the firewall for a water trail. An inspection mirror and flashlight will help.
(Did someone spill a bottle of water, not tell you?)

2004 Camry moon roof leak ...

My wife noticed water coming out of the right rear assist handle above the rear door ... I pulled it off and nothing to do there. I moved the moon roof back but could not see any drain holes (???). Have not found a manual to show me where else to look. Please assist @ napamac
