What fluid CAN I use to replace power steering fluid in this car? I need to do a full flush so I would prefer to buy a gallon. As I understand it "DEXTRON" is an indicator of quality. so if a car calls for dextron 3 that means you can use dextron 3 or any dextron above 3. is that true?

Also, what is the BEST fluid to use for power steering flush?

I use Dex 6 synthetic in my 2002 Highlander for a few years and now my 2008 RX350. Works great and steering stays buttery smooth even in the freezing cold in the morning.

I used Valvoline Max Life transmission fluid as my replacement power steering fluid in my 2007 Highlander V6. The Valvoline Max Life transmission fluid cover all the Dexron fluid as well as the Toyota WS transmission fluid.

I've been using the blue ones as ATF and PS fluids since i bought the car.

I am sure both versions will do the job as good or better than the OEM transmission fluids. I just went with the high mileage version to hopefully recondition my old seals in my transmission and to keep my new power steering rack seals in tip top condition.

would this stuff work?:

ACDelco GM Original Equipment 10-9244 Dexron VI Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

In theory; Yes.

Dexron VI is supposed to be an upgraded fluid to previous Dexron fluids and is backwards compatible per GM data sheets.

I use Toyota Transmission and Power Steering fluid and get it on sale on-line when they do their holiday sales for extra on-line savings. I used the "turkey baster" technique over the course of a few months, here and there, essentially using the process of dilution. My fluid was pretty dirty but after about 2 1/2 bottles, is now quite clean.
