My 05 tundra has the low air sensors. How much presure is correct for driving? On cold mornings my light comes on then goes off when it wrams up. whats up.......teddy
I don't think that's right because people have defeated the tire pressure sensors by putting them all into the spare or putting them into a wheelbarrow tire, which neither obviously make revolutions or are involved with the ABS sensors.Sparky747 said:According to the dealer, the low pressure light actually works by using the anti-lock sensors to count the wheel revolutions. When one or more wheels registers more revs than the others... Bingo, the light comes on. In other words, it's not actually pressure. If all the tires are low you won't get the light. Either one is low, or I'd take it to the dealer in case it's a anti-lock related problem. Hope this helps, Dude.
Some Toyota TPS Systems worked that way. But the system in the Tundra is the same as used in the '04 and newer 4Runner. The tire pressure sensor is integrated in the air valve. It measures the pressure and the temperature of the air in the tire and transmits the measured values and a recognition ID to the tire pressure monitor receiver. Each sensor has a built-in semi-conductor to directly measure the inflation pressure of the tire. Frequency of the sensor is 314.98 MHz. The tire pressure monitor receiver, which contains an antenna, receives the radiowave signals from the tire pressure sensors and transmits those signals to the tire pressure monitor ECU. The tire pressure monitor receiver receives the tire inflation pressure data and sensor identification data. The tire pressure monitor receiver can determine from the received data whether the signals came from its own tires. If the received tire inflation signal is below approx. the initialize pressure , the tire pressure monitor ECU illuminates the tire monitoring warning light.Sparky747 said:According to the dealer, the low pressure light actually works by using the anti-lock sensors to count the wheel revolutions.
