Radio Firmware Update

So, I check the download page for the radio firmware every couple of months and there was an update in June and I had no problem applying that to my 2017 Highlander Limited Platinum with navigation. I checked today and the download page shows a "new" update with a release of September 8th. When I go to download it the file looks like it is named the same as the June file, at first I thought this was odd but maybe a Toyota thing so the radio wouldn't take the wrong firmware. When I put the usb drive in the car and go to update it recognizes that there is a usb attached, I have tried a couple different usb drives, and when I go to setup>general>software update, it doesn't recognize that there is a new update on usb drive (I think last time it popped up and said hey new software). So is this the same file and they changed the release date? Did they upload or link to the wrong file? Am I doing it wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to this thread I went out to my 2014 HL. I had to enable Entune on my phone first. I normally have it disabled because it eats up battery life. Once I enabled it a screen popped up insisisting there was a mandatory update. Downloaded and updated effortlessly. Not exactly sure what it was for, but it was mandatory, right?

There are TWO kinds of updates for Entune.

The update that happens through a phone app, "over the air", is for the Entune Apps. All it does is sync up the apps on the head unit, the app on your phone, and whatever those apps are talking to on the Internet.

The second kind of update is usually called a "firmware update" in the computer world. It's an update for the Entune system itself inside the radio head unit. That's the kind of update that could potentially solve problems such as rebooting, freezing, or other misbehavior on the head unit. That kind of update can only be done through the USB port. You put a new firmware file on a USB flash drive and follow instructions to get the head unit to pull it in and install it.

I had a problem where the "check" for surround sound was always "checked" and I preferred it unchecked (off). Every time I turned off the HL and restarted it, the "check" always reappeared for surround sound. Entune app updates didn't fix it, and firmware updates to the head unit didn't fix it either. Then one day the dealer contacted Toyota engineering in Calif. and they had the dealer push some firmware into the HL's system, which fixed the problem, as I preferer the surround sound off (unchecked).

I think I found the URL: https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/getUpdates

When I put in my model and year it comes back with "Your Toyota Vehicle has an available multimedia software update (Version 0101D7 & 010157)". The first number matches my current Audio version and the I can not find the second number. I downloaded it to a USB but when I put the USB in nothing happens like others have been reporting.

new to the party, i just got a '17 limited and trying to update the software and the download is not starting after pressing the download link at the bottom of the page:

Your Toyota Vehicle has an available multimedia software update:
Entuneâ„¢ Audio (version 01014B 013A4C), Entuneâ„¢ Audio Plus (version 01016E 01016F), Entuneâ„¢ Premium Audio (010192)

Anyone know where I can find another source for this software update file? I don't know why its not downloading, I even deactivated all ad pop up plug-ins.

Yes. And after spending 10 minutes, exhausting every option, I realized 2 things, first I was using Brave Browser and it didn't show any download destination window so I tried it with Internet Explorer (yuck) and the download screen finally appeared. Then I tried to download it directly to my memory stick and it wouldn't download, so I tried again and save to Desktop and it is finally downloading. So weird....
