Not sure about the stock wheel, I sold mine old wheels, but I think they had a lot of backspacing. (Meaning it tucks a lot of the tire under the fender).

I originally got some black steel wheels, but they were all bent and destroyed a set of tires.

sooo...

I got some really cool aluminum wheels for $90. You will need 5X4.5 bolt spacing. And I got 15X8" wheels with 3.75" backspacing

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ARE-625865&N=700+115&autoview=sku

With those wheels you will have to slightly grind the front of the caliper or use a wheel spacer .15" or greater. I chose to grind because I didn't want the wheel sticking out anymore.

yeh that link is $100 cheaper than anywhere else. Ive read all thats available so far about this lift, but still have questions. The consensus is new rear shocks is a good idea. (i have a base model, reg cab). But no certainty as to which shocks to get. ALso, would any 16x8 rim work, coupled with a 245/75R16? The last thing i want is to order all this stuff and have it rub!
That tire size will work fine(I am running 31"X10.5" tires and your tires equate to 30.5"X9.6"), Just make sure you get a wheel with no less than 3.75" backspacing and no more than 4.5". The less the backspacing the more the wheel stick out, the more the backspacing the more the wheel is under the fender.

I listed part number for shocks below.

so this is the kit to get then, unless i want to spend a small fortune?

also, is there a way to get you mph guage calibrated after something like this?

and no1 knows what kind of rear shock to get? this seems like the main thing holding me back. :headbang:
I think my dealer wanted like $100 to calibrate the speedo. I haven't done it yet, but I know I am running about 10% fast with my 31" tires.

The rear shocks you need are p/n 322515 Pro Comp Shocks. You need 2 of them. Also order 2 dust boots.

If anyone wants to see pics of my truck with the new aluminum wheels just let me know. I wont be able to post them until next week as I am going on a hunting trip this weekend. Wish me luck

used the coupon code CABIN to get an additional $10 off. also free shipping and no tax. so my total was 219.95 shipped for the readylift sst lift kit. now to try to find these pro comps.

but what about offset? its so confusing i dont know what rims to buy. dont even know if i should be looking at 15;s or 16's

#17 ·
Well I went to discount tire and told them i was looking for a 16x8 rim with 4.5" backspacing and they didnt know what i was talking about. they said they only go by "offset" and had no clue what 4.5" backspacing is or how to convert it. so it looks like rims will be impossible to find.

also went to an auto shop and was quoted $349 to install the kit which includes new rear shock installation. and the alighnment would be another 50. does this sound ok?

If a wheel company does not know what backspacing is, I would suggest going somewhere else!!!!

Read up on backspacing and offset here: https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
It is pretty simple, but I don't have time to explain it now. Got class in 10 mins.

My 15X18 wheel had 3.75" of backspacing and -19offset

Those are generic shocks, they work for our Tacoma because they have the right compressed and extended lengths.

Oh and dont worry about those plastic pieces. They just unbolt. No biggie! They are under front fender right in front of the door.

long story short, it took 5 seperate calls, and a real nice supervisor called bob (extension 164) to get the parts at 228.95 shipped. :D Just dont mention me or this post/thread haha.

Ordered and should be here in a week.

Im still in the air about whether I would order from autoanything.com again, I had several members of staff lie to me, 2 hung up, and it took 4 days to get it sorted out.

One member of staff told me they had the 05-09 tacoma 5 lug kit for 5 years and it had always been priced at 329...told him the 05-09 had only been on the market 4 years, and the lift kit itself is not even 6 months old. He called me an idiot.

The final sup told me they had only sold one kit at 229, and that the price was then corrected. I asked if he was sure about that, he said he had the order records in front of him...blah blah...I had to throw two seperate order numbers at him for that one.

Oh, and then theres the whole fact that 80% of their business is 16-35 yr old males with disposable incomes, and that if they ever wanted me to purchase the rest of my parts through them, they would need to make things right...so he sold the kit at cost, with free delivery. haha.

Wow, I don't know if I want to go through all that trouble. :ugh3:

There's this thing with Live Search/Ebay where you can get 25% off your Ebay "Buy It Now" purchase and there happens to be someone selling the kits on Ebay. The only catch is that the 25% is refunded in 60 days.

The problem with your post wake, is that I now know what backspace and offset are. Also, those rims are gay ... unless this is still 1991  Now you've spent alot of time reasearching my posts from the past and showing us how cool those rims are on some truck that you will never own. By all means prove me wrong by showing me how awesome they are on your truck. I also see you're a fan of my colgan custom bra. They're great for love bugs.

ETA: My truck should be done over the next couple weeks (hopefully less), in between work when possible. Lets have the forum judge which looks better when completed.

I find that funny that you know what backspacing and offset are. Your posts definitely reflect differently. I thought that kind of technical stuff was "so confusing" for you? I thought you told me you "know next to nothing about this stuff."

Hmm weird, either your full of it or I need to get my glasses checked.

Why don't you use all of that "Know-How" of yours to complete your truck by this weekend? I had no problem completing the job in a day....
