As part of my rear axle snapping, the job snowballed as I replaced the rear pads, rebuilt the calipers, new parking brake shoes and replaced the brake shields which were really rotted out.
These are more than just dust shields, they also have the attachment points for the parking brake. Mine were crumbling to pieces. As far as I can tell, there are NO aftermarket alternatives and the OEM pair was $500-600.
I found that Dorman makes a pair for the Gen1 HL and they identical except for the rotor size is bigger on the Gen2's so they require some trimming. Five mins with a jigsaw and metal blade and I was good to go.
Yeah, you lose the lip by doing this mod but the rusty ones I had were a whole lot worse. The Dorman part # is 924-373 and they're around $150-170 for the pair. The quality is good.
Replacing these is not an easy job and I consider myself a pretty advanced DIY guy. You have to remove the caliper, rotor and all of the parking brake components as well as the wheel bearing hub. THEN start the reverse process. I haven't touch drum brakes in 30 years so you'll need that knowledge and tools for the parking brake setup.
