Does the recall apply to all (majority) of Venzas in the United States? or do they know exact models where the defect is present?

 

Got my Venza OCT 2020, built date 07/20 and checked...not on recall list.

 

Nov of 21 and is not.

 

Shows up for me in my Toyota app and when I enter my VIN on the Toyota website.

The website links to a FAQ with additional info, including that the production dates for the approx. 41,500 impacted vehicles is Mid-September 2020 – Late May 2021.

Interesting thing is that they will replace the LED bulb but may also have to replace the assembly itself to fit the new bulb.

 

Just plugged my vin into Recalls Look-up by VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

nothing yet. Guessing mine isn't affected as I took delivery of it a few weeks ago.

 

My Venza built in Sept. 2020. It is in the recall.

 

We received our first recall notice today. “Certain 2021 Venza Hybrids rear turn signal lamps may become dim or deactivated”. Turn signals may be at risk for water accumulation in one or both rear turn signal assemblies. Toyota will replace BOTH bulbs (or assemblies, if necessary) with improved parts in Q2 2022.

Has anyone else received this notice? Our Venza has a March 2021 build date.

 

Yes. Got it this week. I have a vague recollection the failure occurs in areas where a lot of moisture kicks up and gets in/near the turn signal assembly.

The location of the rear turn signals in the 2nd gen Venza is one of the few design features Toyota screwed up on IMO.

They obviously should have been integrated higher up in the light bar area, closer to eye level of drivers following.

I think there are some other vehicles out there with a similar design. DUMB!

 

yeah. The rear turn signals on the new Venza are far more exposed to the elements than other lights. The rear bumper is open underneath - you can almost reach your hand in there and touch the lights. I could see how water might splash back there.

Under recall, or not, the OEM mud guards covering the entire width of the tire should keep most of the tire spray out of that area.

 

Although I haven't yet taken delivery of my 2022 Venza... shouldn't Toyota USA get their act together and sell/provide OEM mud guards like Toy Canada?

 

Took my 21 Venza to the dealership for the 20K maintenance and stability control recall. They said there is no fix yet for the turn signal recall that affects my Venza. Has anyone try to get the rear turn signal recall addressed?

 

I have an appt for my last comp OCI tomorrow with 21.2K miles and I inquired about those 2 recalls; will they take care of them while I’m in for service, he said yes, one is a software update. I haven’t noticed any fast blinking when driving in the rain, so if I’m part of that recall group it’ll be taken care of regardless.

 

I just made an appointment for later this month and service. They stated they had the new bulbs but not the housings if it is needed. They stated you have to remove the bumper cover to replace the bulbs, and it takes over an hour.

 

Did you get this recall done last month? Can you confirm that they need to remove the rear bumper cover to do this recall? I'm concerned a about paint damage. Anyone else know for sure yet? I got my notice that parts are now available. Haven't called the dealer yet.

 

I had the recall performed today. They did replace the rear lens and housing in addition to the LED bulbs.

 

Glad you got the recalls done to your satisfaction. I haven't experienced any of the other issues you speak of. But I only have 5400 miles on my 21'. Being retired during a pandemic is a great way too keep low miles on a vehicle! I'll call my dealer next week to see what parts they have on hand. Thanks for your info!

 

Hey Gasssman. Did you have to have your Venza in for an inspection prior to repair so they could order parts from Toyota? That's what I was told when I called to check on parts availability. My inspection appointment is next Week on the 28th.

 

On mine, they ordered the parts when I made the appointment...was not asked to come in for an inspection.

 

Went in a second time for the turn signal recall. Completed this time without any issues. They replaced the LED bulbs and the lens assemblies.

They also did the DashCam accessory firmware update, which was the subject of a service campaign (just got the notification in the mail).

 

Had both recalls taken care of this morning. As it turned out when I got there, I thought they were just going to do an inspection for the rear turn signals and then order parts as required. Which seem dumb and wrong to me as Toyota clearly believes the LED bulbs and turn signal housing lens need replaced. The service person went ahead and pre-ordered the parts after I was there last week. I suspect they did a little more checking into the proper procedure. Anyway, both recalls on my 2021 are up to date now.
