I've searched, tried this instruction (

to no avail to try to even get the Sequoia into programming mode. I do wonder if it's related at all to the car being a Platinum, having the power tilt/telescoping wheel, whatever the case is. I have the old style key fobs (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QHM5L34?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) but again, haven't even gotten the car into programming mode. Wondering if anyone else has encountered the same issue, or has a fix (that doesn't involve techstream or the OBD2 dongle from Tom's.
