Can anyone give me feedback about applying the roll on bed liners?

u mean roll up, rite?
I take his question to be about the paint-on bedliners they sell in stores...

I don't have one but from what I've heard they go on pretty well if you prep the bed correctly and take your time.

It's not a Linex or Rhino coating, but more than directly proportional to the money you save.

I'll probably do one in the near future. My bed's looking pretty rank these days. ;)

i haven't done one in a bed, i'm going to on my 91, but i did get some of the liner stuff that bondo makes and used it as kind of an undercoating on the lower half of the side of my truck to keep rocks from dinging the paint. i did have to sand the paint and cover it up, but i figured an nice black protective coating that would resist chips and such would be better lookng than the stock green paint with white specks in it. It wasn't too bad to do. the biggest pain is getting the tape even. of course if you are doing the bed, it shouldn't be that hard. just make sure you take your vitamins, eat your wheaties, and drink a couple cans of full throttle or red bull, cuz once you start mixing the hardener into the mix, you have to stir for about 15-20 minutes straight. all in all not too bad. oh, and you won't be able to drive the truck until the liner sets up for a while, any dirt or what ever will stick to the liner and turn it the color of the dirt.

It depends on how even and professional you expect the finish to be and how well you need it to hold up. I had a roll on liner in a Chevy truck that was done by the previous owner who only used it for towing. It looked OK and held up well for him. I used it for construction and it didn't hold up very well at all. It is tougher than paint but not nearly as tough as the professionally sprayed in liners.

A guy I used to work with had the Rhino liner professionally sprayed in. That looked awesome and holds up like a slide in liner. Of course it cost him like $800 for an 8' full size Chevy bed. $50/gal vs. $800 is pretty hard to ignore.

My brother-in-law takes his "big-ol-chevy" suburban hunting ALL the damn time. Well some of these elk like to leak on the trip home so he had his lower half of the interior Line-X'd (to help make it easier to wash out). Well after a few tree scrapes he decided to do the lower half of the OUTSIDE. I'm thinking he's just drunk. But I go see him like a couple months later and he did the complete outside in Line-X. Actually looks pretty good and it makes great body armor. Will take a couple pics when I go to get my windows tinted at his shop. You 4x4 owners should check this out. And anyone local to AZ... I can get it done MUCH cheaper then you think. Great deals on tint and Line-X.

No crap? You gotta grab some pics and send 'em my way. My brother-in-law would trip out. Other then that though, if you've seen it in person you know what I mean when I say it's one of the coolest things to see in person.

you also should look at what you will be usin the truck for. if you use the bed alot with puttin stuff in it (stuff that will scratch it) you might want to get something that will protect a little more, like line-x or ryno liner. they will be much stronger and like shoes said, lifetime warrenty. if your not gonna use the bed for that much, then just go for the cheaper stuff. it will look good and it will be for a lot cheaper.

Actually I can get it done for about $60-75 for minis (in Arizona only:sosad: ). But I agree, depending on how hard you use it, the roll-on is fairly tough. My uncle did his and hauls his dirtbikes and tools in his and never had any problems.

Hey guys I used to have a slide in liner, one of those plastic tubs that you insert into the bed of your truck, but one day I decided to look underneath it... Paint was sanded off with the liner grinding on it and there was a bunch of debry all over the place... So I decided to take it out and put in the Herculiner that you can buy at your local autozone. It went on pretty nice and looked good for a while. However here are pictures of heavy use after a year or so. http://slovakenterprises.com/truck/ not very pretty sight. It may have to do with the fact that I live in Arizona and the heat here is unbearable or just the heavy use took a toll on it... So if you do not plan on using the bed too much it is a good cheap way to go, but if you use it a lot...

Thanks for the pics Matus1... It doesn't look like they advertise for sure...

However, for what it costs I think you got your money's worth out of it at least.

I bet you could get one of those $25 pint cans of the retouch stuff and make that like brand new in 15 minutes.

Maybe as heavy as you're using it though you should consider a Rhino spray in...
