I recently bought a 2012 Toyota corolla and i love it. I was told i shouldn't drive long distance with a new car, however i was planning on a weekend trip approximately 100miles away. would it be in my best interest to not go n my trip with my new car?:help:

Why on earth would you NOT go in your new car?
It's fine! I wouldn't abuse the car for the first 1000 miles or so, but it's perfectly fine to go anywhere in it.

While I agree that some break-in measures should be taken, its simply not realistic to not drive your car places. To put it plainly there is no problem driving the car where ever or however you want as long as you try to vary the speed a bit on longer cruises, not just stick it on cruise and go steady state for hours on end is probably not great for an engine that is still breaking in. Cars come with some form of break in from the factory usually.
I have a 40 mile commute each day since new, I varied my speed a bit the first few trips, I have had no issues with oil or other and I have over 100,000 miles (160,000kms) on it now.
