Scion Xa Factory Stereo - Need Help!

We bought a 2006 Scion Xa last night. It has the pioneer sound system, without the 6 disc changer. The first thing I noticed when I went for a ride in it, the front speakers are 90% louder than the back speakers.

The back speakers work, but are very quiet. I tried fading to the back speakers, but you have to turn the volume to 45 in order for them to sound ok. The back speakers seem to sound really flat too, with no bass.

In order to get balanced sound, I have to turn the back speakers on level 7 (rear fade). If i turn the fade to (0) then all you hear is the front speakers.

What is the problem? I think the head unit is burned up. But I have searched Google for hours and haven't found anything. I really need help before we bring it back to the dealer!

Thanks!

So the xA now has the best sounding stereo I've ever heard in a factory car. We have the special edtion version, and a premium sound system. I was not hearing sound out of the back speakers, so I researched it on Google and found a setting to change the stereo from xC mode to xA. I adjusted that, and the back speakers came to life! Now the xA has this amazing robust sound field and bass booms through the cabin, in a very natural way. The sound system is awesome. This particular setting was extremely important because the back speakers barely worked before.

Are you sure your deck wasn't blown. Perhaps this is an issue? I've never heard any car have quiet back speakers. Every car I've ever ridden in has tremendous volume from the back speakers, even when they are tiny 4" speakers. Can anyone else verify this?

I hope it's just a setting! But I am skeptical. Thanks for the help though, I'll be excited if nothing is broken.
