Hell everyone. We have a 2016 Highlander Limited Platinum and for the past few weeks the screen randomly goes blank, (the stereo and everything still work, just the screen goes blank). If you hit any button on the stereo, it comes back on. Before I take it into the dealership, does anyone have an idea what it could be and is it something that I maybe missing on my end?

Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your week!

I have had this exact problem several times. Each time, I mentioned it to the dealer at my next scheduled visit. I believe they updated the software and it was instantly fixed. I haven't had the problem recur for about a year now, so I think that whatever current version of the firmware is in now, has fixed the issue.

Have you found any resolution to this issue. We are experiencing the same thing in my wife's 2015 Highlander. The software is up to date (confirmed this morning). When you turn the car on, sometimes the screen just stays black. The radio plays, the backup camera works, but after you put it in drive, the screen goes back to just a black screen. Once you press a button on the display (like the Audio or Home buttons) it turns right on like there's no issue whatsoever. Annoying more than anything but would like to get it to stop doing it if possible. Thanks!

My 2018 Highlander audio display went black-no radio. All other functions seem to be working. Dealership is 200+ miles away and the receptionist wouldn’t let me speak to a mechanic, simply tried to book an appointment and said that maybe software isn’t up to date. I asked if this is routinely done when the vehicle is serviced and her response was no, not necessarily...

It happens that the toyota infotainment screen goes on and off for some time and comes up as if nothing have happend after a minute. This happens multiple times with me and the dealer or service people have no idea. I tried the reverse method in idle running of engine for 5 mins it works for few days then the issue reappears.

This happens if you recently upgrade your iphone or android for the new software update or release. I feel that this happens because the latest software just prevent is from accessing because the authencication security certificates need to be done on the new software update when connected and end up disconnecting the system.

The fix here is just go to settings > bluetooth device > remove your device then add it again by finding the device as if you were adding new. This helped me to fix the issue.
