Have any of you removed the secondary charcoal filter in your stock airbox? (held right above the stock air filter in the top half of the box)

i took mine out when i put in a k&n drop in and moved my inlet tube down to the lower grill. i just lightly drilled the plastic tabs/rivits holding it in.

it's not for filtering air coming into the airbox, it keeps vapors from escaping.

i would think it is a restriction. i don't know for sure. i removed it cause everybody that posted about doing there own cold air intake removed it.

That actually might be valid if your car could draw in air as fast at the same pressure your compressor delivers. At that pressure the compressors own hose is also a restriction. Given the naturally aspirated nature of the engine it can only intake so much air due to the throttle body plate/opening...there is the real restriction if there has to be one.

Unless someone can put up a dyno showing that there is an increase in power from removing it, I still believe the stock system can provide more air than the engine can consume. Are there valid dynos showing that even an aftermarket intake provides more power over stock from TN members?
