I am hoping some of you will have some suggestions. I recently purchased a '08 tacoma. I had wanted a factory/dealer installed satellite radio but without a SAT button I was told it was a no-go. What have others done? I hate to just go back to having a windshield mount, cig lighter set-up so I am hoping there is another way. I still cannot believe that Toyota doesnt at least make the radio satellite compatible. Thanks in advance.

You can always swap out your factory radio and get an after-market radio, that will allow you to add a sirius interface so you can control it through the actual stereo. Very similar what you were looking for, but now your getting a better stereo that will do much much more. You'll get increased sound quality, satellite radio, and if you want, I-pod control.

I have mine mounted to the dash and directly wired. No FM transmitter, no cigarette adapter. (although you'll probably want to use the cig adapter behind the dash since the units are now 5v)

It is ridiculously easy to install. My choice was to remove the brake light cover, and run the antenna wire from there thru the headliner to the dash. Buy the FM modulator and install it behind the head unit. I have done this for both vehicles we own.

I didn't drill holes anywhere visible, and I allow the cords to run underneath the AC controls, and heat shrinked the 3 together for visual appeal, even though they are barely noticeable behind the radio itself.

My Tacoma had an open fuse bay with switched power, so I tapped into that and grounded on a bolt directly behind the head unit. You could use an "add a circuit" as well.

While you are in there, go ahead and add an Ipod/auxiliary outlet!

I just have this mount. You remove the AC controls and mount it from there, so you don't drill into the dash anywhere. It works pretty well, as there really isn't much real estate in a Taco.

You can mount the sat radio antenna under the rear corner of the bedside cap next to the tailgate and run the cable up the passenger side and into the cab through the rubber plug just under the passenger front seat. I put mine there and it works great even with my hard fiberglass tonneau cover over it. The best part is you will never have to see the ugly thing again :)

pop out the popper that holds the inside edge of the bedrail cap. you can then flex the cap up towards the inside edge so you can slip the antenna under the edge and it will magnetize to the metal edge of the bed. you can slip the wire down one of the holes in the metal, pull back the fender liner and snake the wire down. then just wire tie it down to the frame rail and send it along to the body grommet. I will try to get pics for you guys to show how and where i mounted it. It s just a great spot for the antenna and you never have to see it.
