i hate the gap between my tire and wheel well but i know if i get lowering springs it would rub? or would it. Im thinking something like this.

would 1" lowering springs help it. at least get it a tad bit lower without rubbing. If i got some that would stiffen up the suspension and not allow it to flex enough to touch the tire. What do you guys think.

better get airbags ... or really good coilovers

gonna have to cut and/or roll your fenders ... will probably need camber adjustments as well ... and some self-justifications as to why youre driving a Camry Donk

hmm

IMO Camry's are just not the right ride to be putting 20's on. Besides all the mechanical hurdles, It just wouldn't look correct. The Cam is too small. Save these for the SUV's and big Chrysler late model behemoths. Just my opinion.

first of all how wide are those wheels? thats gonna make a big difference if ya can lower or not. im gonna say airbags are gonna be the only safe bet. with wheels that big your gonna want to be able to easily control the ride hight. you can control it with coil overs but not easily. depending on the width of those things even 1 inch is gonna be hard to live with a a daily basis.

those are way too big for anything ... can you give the Wheel Brand, Model and the Offset?

first of all, your tires are too big i do believe - the overall wheel/tire diameter is like 2" oversized [if its a 4cyl you should be running 235/25-20 or 225/30-20]

second of all, with a 8.5" wide wheel + the tire, there is no doubt in my mind that not only will you be rolling all inner fender ... you will have to pretty much bash in the fender liner, and probably pull the fender lip out some too!

third of all, you really shouldnt even bother messing around with lowering springs at this point - you need something with adjustability (be it coilovers or air ride) because you dont want to end up with an initial setup that doesnt work and not have the ability to adjust it on the fly

You need a lift kit. For the donk approach, what I'm seeing more here around certain areas of Atlanta is making your car look like a box of cereal or common household cleaner. Perhaps MR CLEAN vinyl is needed. Lift first. :smokin:

It is totally doable. BUT it requires a lot of custom work. Talk to shops that customize trucks that lay their frame rails on the ground. They typically have air bags, but that's only 1/2 of the story. They require cutting of the frame. And although the Camry doesn't have a "frame".....a lot of cutting and welding will be required to make 20" x 8.5" wheels fit coupled with the slam you're after.

I wish I hadn't even clicked on this topic. Everyone has their own individual tastes, but THAT is definitely not to MY tastes. I'm thinking "Why are you ruining your car and making it look like a piece of ghetto trash?"
but maybe I shouldn't have even said that.

Trying to set aside my extreme dislike of oversized rims and a lack of adequate ground clearance, I can say
that you're too close to the hard limit already. You can't get away with lowering the car at this point unless you never intend to drive it again. Tires will rub and scrape at the SLIGHTEST bump in the road.

He's right and wrong. You can drive it as a daily. But be prepared to do a lot of sideways action and scrapage. It all depends on how low you're planning to go... Here are two extreme examples.

If you do want to go wide on your Gen camry, you must pull and roll the fenders... If I were you, especially with 20's, I'd just drop it enough so the there is 1/2 to 1 finger gap between tires and fender. Anything lower, be prepared to pay for it.

If you really want to slam your car, especially since from your pshop picture I see that you want it to be slammed, its possible. But then again, be prepared to cut fender liner, roll/pull fenders, and maybe get different tires. Depending on the 8.5 width of your rim, you might need slightly stretched tires... Just be prepared to get..

1) coilovers / airride (800$ - $2500)
2) roll pull fenders ($50 - $150)
3) maybe camber your wheels a bit more negative. I had to go a bit extreme in my negative camber to fit my wheels in. My camber kit was included with my coilovers. (camber kit included with your coilovers or camber arm* ebay 50-70 bucks)
4) last resort if you still rub, stretched tires. Chances are, after you did the last three, you won't rub.

Good luck if you do go this route. But as cmjohnson said, it might be tough getting around. All depends on how low and how much money you want to spend to go that low.

A lot of newbies in here trying to say "how" and "what to do", when you didn't even research or do the job yourselves...... makes me laugh!

Kids, don't compare the Gen6 to the 3 or 4 or vice versa.

To the OP, YES, you can slam your gen4 on those big trash can lids you have on, it will not look slammed though, but if you are serious, PM and I'll lead you through the correct way in doing things.

I get tired of kids' thinking just because they read stuff on-line or they paid someone to install or do shit for them that means they are knowledgeable... ha.

I thought we weren't allowed to swear except in OT. I guess if you feel that strongly about it "poo" [edited] is the appropriate language.
