I have a 2009 Toyota Matrix base 1.8L manual with 130 k miles. I am thinking of upgrading the center console/ sound system to something with park assist, front rear camera, touch screen display and recording.

any inputs on if it’s possible and any good products out there?

I just ordered this 7” touchscreen unit from the AMZN. $81 plus the wire harness, special antenna adapter, and the double DIN mounting bezel kit. Oh plus $7 for an external microphone so I can use the hands free Bluetooth with telephone calls. I believe this comes with one camera and you can add a front one too.

Should tick all the boxes for your camera and such bit worried about scalability of that head unit as appears to only have 2.1 preouts. A solid amp always improves sound and I just don't see front/rear/sub on this deck so if you wanted to upgrade later you would need a new deck. Then again maybe it will sound great with factory speakers only one way to find out right?

Suggest you get some heat shrink for the install. Lasts forever and much better than electrical tape for when you splice it all in.

Just installed mine with a headunit with Linux system from atoto, also work with Carplay and Android Auto. For now, everything is good, no isses at all. The only thing needed now is for me to learn how to use it properly to find more functions it brings.

F7 SE: Amazon.com: ATOTO CarPlay & Android Auto Car Stereo Receiver, F7 Standard F7G2A7SE, Double-DIN 7in IPS LCD, Mirrorlink/AutoLink, Fast Phone Charge, Bluetooth ,HD LRV(Live Rearview),Support up to 2TB SSD & 512G SD

And make sure get the installation parts you will need.

This is the factory wiring. The 2 on the left are for the sound system.
Does anyone know the what the two on the right are for?

this is the wiring harness that was connected to my aftermarket clarion cz302 which came with the car when I purchased it used. I unplugged one end from the cz302 wiring harness. The other end was plugged in to the 2 plugs ( left hand side) of the wiring harness from the first picture.

Any details and suggestions will be helpful.
Any idea if I can upgrade this system to park assist and front camera?

I don’t mind reading up on this stuff just need to be directed someplace

Yeah I think I’m going to reinstall the OE stereo but install a Tranzit Blu HF kit that is basically like those CD changer FM transmitter kits from the 90’s but integrates via Bluetooth. I installed one in my pickup and it works great. Zero complaints about the telephone voice quality and the audio is great for podcasts (not so much for tunes).
