Probably dropped yet All have So little electrode left and those with oil have failing seals. Hate to say it yet I have seen better looking plugs on 100k vehicles - tough to believe these only have 35K - WOW.

 

Oh no we are at 111000 miles. I question whether all six were actually repleaced when we bought it from the dealer at 35k.

 

There is a mark on top of Toyota plugs if they are factory original.

 

A CPO purchased vehicle does not mean they replace all the original parts. No way would a dealer change the plugs on your truck at 35k miles just because they were selling it as CPO... Read the terms of your CPO contract, you get some extra warranty time on some items over the original expiration....

 

I agree that the bent electrode had to be from it being dropped. Either that or the Toyota tech decided to smash it down just to mess with you.

If that came out of the cylinder like that, then your piston has smacked it which would be a catastrophic failure. The cylinder would also being throwing a misfire code and your CEL would have been on.

 

the 3 with the oil were probably from the rear bank. also, that smashed one, had to be after the fact. again, probably dropped while removing it from the rear bank.

 

Just fyi, since you are there. Consider cleaning or replacing the PCV valve. Super easy and worth checking with that mileage.

I'm guessing they just grabbed 3 used plugs and showed them to you...at 35k no way plugs look like that. I just changed some plugs after 90k interval in a Honda Element and they were alot cleaner than those.
Seems very odd they would be comfortable showing you those without some sort of explanation of why they look like that.

 

Talked to the dealer. They are great folks and he agreed it likely got dropped. I dropped one just for the hell of it and it bent. All good now. All said those plugs were toast.

 

Oh and we weren't at 35,000 mi. We were at 100,000 miles
