Spark Plugs

Just put new plugs in my '90 Toyota V6. Recommended gap is .035 which seems rather close for a modern ignition system. Any thoughts? (I went with .052 and it runs just fine)
Also I only put in 5 plugs because #1 scared me. Using great force I backed it out abt 1/16 turn and lost my nerve. Any thoughts?

As long as the engine was cold when you tried to remove the plugs, you should be fine.
Id gap them at what was recommended. .055 is actually too wide and (almost to the point of the plugs being worn-out) will result in a weaker spark (might not burn as much fuel as if you gapped it at the correct gap).
Just a little FYI, the correct spark plug gap is .031 (according to the Toyota service manual for a '90 4Runner)

Keep going with the #1 plug dude.. it will come out, just don't force it too much. I had that problem with one of my plugs and just kept going until it finally gave in and came out. After you take it out make sure you lubricate the one going in just slightly with oil or antiseize so that it doesn't happen again.
