Every Toyota I've ever owned does it (including my 82). The roar you get on the Sequoia is more pronounced because of the clutch fan.

I would suggest a throttle cleaning anyway.

Yes, agreed. I spoke to aguy today with about the same model year, he said the same.

Yes I do live in a cold state, southern Maine. it does seem to be excessive though having been a driver for over 40 years. This my first Toyota though and I noticed my mother camry kind of did the same thing, start with a roar and then settle down. None of my other cars really did it.

That said next time it in (needs an old change) Ill have them listen to it.

High idle is normal for a cold engine during open loop warm up. 2500 seems a bit high, so I would clean the throttle body.

This is the procedure for a Corolla, so it is different as far as the actual hose removal. But the procedure for cleaning should he followed exactly:

Actually I was wrong it not 2500, it more like 1200-1800, enough where I can move along without touching the gas....But I think you link and information is useful, thanx
