Sunroof problem (Not closing).

2009 Camry. Sunroof slides fully open and fully closes fine, on the slider switch. The other rocker switch that controlls the partially open up and down positions opens fine, but when closing keeps on cycling through open and closing positions(does't park closed and stay closed). The only way to get it to close is to make quick consecutive button presses on the rocker switch closing direction until it stops in the parked position. At that point it parks closed and stays closed.

Anyone familiar with switch locations or associated problems for the mechanism?

Thanks in advance.

U need to recalibrate it.

I think u have to put in on tilt open position and push and hold the slide open button until the sunroof tilts back down and slide open then close automatically.

Thanks a million guys.

Couldn't find anything other than operational stuff in the car's manual. Took me a while to find the reset procedure, thought I'd share it.

Kinda garbled info but it got my sunroof workin' in my 09.

Thanks again,

Cheers

BULLETIN

TSB REVISION NOTICE:

December 12, 2005: 2006 model year has been added to Applicable Vehicles.
The reset procedure for TMMK-built models has been standardized so that Reset
Procedure 1 is no longer used when the negative (–) battery terminal is disconnected
and/or the “PWR No. 1” fuse is removed. Instead, Reset Procedure 3 will be used.

October 4, 2004: An additional Reset Procedure No. 4 has been added. Reset
Procedure No. 4 corrects the issue of the moon roof (sliding roof) glass assembly
reversing direction when the glass assembly makes contact with the wind deflector
during the “slide close” cycle. Introduction, Reset Procedure Applicability, and Repair
Tips sections have been revised. Applicable Vehicles now includes 2004 and 2005
model years.
All previous versions of this TSB should be discarded.
TSB UPDATE NOTICE:
The information contained in this TSB supercedes TSB No. BO002-03.
TSB No. BO002-03 is now obsolete and should be discarded.
The sliding roof system must be reset if the following occurs:

Pop noise when tilting up or down.

Glass tilt opening too high.

Does not stop in a fully closed and level position.

Glass assembly reverses direction when it contacts wind deflector during
“slide close” cycle.
The information in this bulletin supplements the sliding roof system reset information in
the 2002 – 2006 Camry Repair Manuals.

Reset Sliding Roof Position
When the battery negative (–) terminal is disconnected or PWR No. 1 fuse is removed
due to the repair, the sliding roof position memory is erased. After reconnecting the
battery negative (–) terminal, make sure to reset the zero point. If the reset is not
performed, the sliding roof automatic operation may not function properly.

4. Confirm “one-touch slide open and close” and “one-touch tilt up and down” functions
by pushing the switch briefly to the “SLIDE OPEN” and “TILT UP” sides.
NOTE:
See Repair Tips section below.
1. Tap control switch to fully close moon roof.
2. Remove dome light assembly (forward of moon roof).
3. With battery connected and ignition “ON,” disconnect wire harness to moon roof ECU
and wait at least 15 seconds.
4. With ignition “ON,” reconnect wire harness to ECU.
5. With ignition “ON,” press and hold “TILT UP” button until glass assembly shudders
or makes a click sound. After the glass assembly shudders or clicks, release
“TILT UP” button.
NOTE:
If glass does not shudder or click, then ECU memory was not erased. Repeat steps 1
through 5 until unit shudders or clicks.
6. Within 5 seconds of releasing “TILT UP” button (end of step 5 above), press and hold
“TILT UP” button again. Glass assembly will go through 1 cycle (glass will tilt down,
slide to fully opened position, then slide to fully closed position).
7. As soon as the glass is fully closed, release “TILT UP” button. All functions are
now reset.
8. Reinstall dome light assembly.
The Repair Manual provides a reset procedure according to the plant where the vehicle
was produced. TMC Camry VIN starts with “J.” TMMK Camry VIN starts with “4.”
1. If the reset procedure does not remedy the condition, then reset again. Disconnect
the sliding roof harness from the sliding roof motor and wait for 3 – 5 minutes.
NOTE:
The sliding roof system must be reset each time the battery is disconnected.
2. If the glass parks in an over-flush or under-flush position with the roof:
A. Move the glass to the flush position by quickly tapping the switch.
B. Reset the system according to Repair Tips 1, 2, and 3 above.
