I have very Rusty trunk lid on my 99 Camry and was able to find used, Rust Free in the same color as my Camry for $75 (local pickup from junkyard). How hard would be to swap it by myself? Anyone did this that could share the procedure? Thanks

I've done it twice. No big deal. Open the trunk. Remove the trim covering from the lid. That gives you access to the harness. Disconnect all the connectors at the lights and the latch. Pull out the harness from the trunk lid prior to removing the lid. I put a towel between the trunk and the car then loosen the bolts holding the trunk to the hinge brackets. It helps if somebody steadies the trunk as you remove the bolts, otherwise steady it with your shoulder. With the trunk removed it is easier to swap over any lights if you plan to. Definitely swap over the lock cylinder so your key works on the new trunk lid. You should remove the trim from the new lid prior to install. Attach trunk lid to hinge brackets but do not fully tighten down the bolts. Reinsert the harness, hook up lights and test. Check that key and trunk release switch works prior to closing lid! Lower the trunk lid and align as best as you can. It will take a few iterations of moving it around, tighten bolts, check, cuss, loosen bolts and repeat till it looks right and functions properly. When everything is as you want it tighten down hinge bolts and reattach the trim cover. There is an adjustment where the striker meets the car but only use that as a last resort, it may alter the hang on the lid after the lid is closed. I saved the lights and locking mechanisms as spares. 3M double side tape will do fine to change over any emblems if you wish.
