So, I was replacing the factory subwoofer in the tailgate. When done, I went to close the tailgate and it wouldn't close on its own and I had to close it manually. Now, it doesn't open or close and I need to flip the switch manually to open both the tailgate and the glass door. When I press the FOB button or the button on the dash, I hear one beep (2-3 seconds). I can hear a click from the front, but nothing happens. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!

Tailgate won't work - one long beep
While working on the stereo, I had to disconnect the battery. Seems to have reset itself and is now working.
Dude you're a lifesaver did the exact same project had the same issue and was able to disconnect my battery and reconnect it and it worked fine!
), only unlock it and partly open it, it needs to be lifted by hand at that point, but closing, I can use any button to auto close the tailgate regardless of how it was opened. I.e., I can open the tailgate using my remote, and close it from the dash button or tailgate button, I can open it via the dash button and close it with the remote or tailgate button, etc. No alarms or anything like that unless the tailgate senses something that keeps it from closing, but that's another issue.
My tailgate on my 2nd gen Highlander (y2009) is not closing, it always tried to close 1/3 of the way with hardship , then double beep and stopped. It does not have the learn open height option/function. Any suggestion what to do to fix it??? ( I am now switch it to manual mode)
