Talk me out of a Colorado

Hey taco folks. I'm on the verge of getting back into the truck world, and have narrowed it down to either a 2016 Tacoma or a 2015/16 Colorado/Canyon. From purely an off-the-shelf stand point, I'm having trouble justifying the Tacoma. GM is offering so much more truck for the same price than a taco. But resale if obviously a concern. And aftermarket is small for the GM. So, I put it to you folks who truly know these trucks. Sell me on the Tacoma.
I’m a proud owner of a 07 Taco and would have recommended the truck above all others. However, the 2016 is a letdown – smaller engine, ugly front-end, interior highlight by air vents… As I mentioned in another post the Tacoma engineers should have taken clues from the 4Runner team. The 4Runner is just a better vehicle, looks and they kept the 4.0L engine. Like you, I will be shopping for a replacement in the near future and will be looking elsewhere. The Nissan Frontier and Honda Ridgeline are going to give Toyota a run for their money. Both will be redesigned next year. I’ll compare the Taco with others, but right now I’m extremely disappointed with the new.

And Ford may be bringing back the Ranger, but I don't know if it'll be based on the same truck they sell overseas, so I'm not sure how it will compare size-wise with the Tacoma and the Colorado/Canyon twins. I had been somewhat interested in the idea of a Colorado with the Duramax diesel, but the $4k upcharge for the diesel seems kinda steep. I read the recent Motor Trend comparison of the Colorado and the Tacoma (Jan. 2016 issue, not yet online), and they saw the comparison as Tacoma = old versus Colorado = new, especially in the ride and handling department.
I saw the Ranger last year in Barbados - I would buy it a heartbeat - with 100K mileage warranty  Great looking truck.
