Problem with O2 sensors is that I ve had some that tested fine but the reading was bad since the tip in the exhaust stream was bad.

I dont consider it a parts cannon at high mileage / old age....100K inttervals are good time to repalce... they come out fairly easy on these.

But I can understand not wanting to spend $$ on maintenance etc..

if you got time to waste though then the slow way is fine too.

I had a whole reply ready until I looked it up.

Only cars in the last 24 calender years they require emissions? The wording is difficult to understand.

trying to understand any government wording is nearly impossible! Just as your insopection station!

Is there a special trick to getting to it? My arms don't seem long enough for the sides; or jointed enough from below.

Thanks for your explanation hackerman
I appreciate the breakdown

You'll just have to reach up there.

Sometimes you can hold the sensor connector down with a screwdriver and use anoer to unclip the connection, then it'll just require a light tug to come apart.

I just saw sensor 2, and wished it was the problem.

Our v6 camery has only one sensor 2 by my accounts.
As bank 1 and bank 2 flow to a wye pipe then 1 catalytic converter.

In my experience, 20-year old automotive electrical connectors don't come apart without considerable cursing and commitment.

I told my father in law to ask if the year was close enough for the shady garage he goes to, if he would pass it on the 24 year rule mentioned above.

My arms cramp now when I have to controurt them. I would feel better replacing the rear spark plugs.

these should come right off... once the clip is released itll pop right out 20 year old or not these slide right out.

Wether or not you'l lbreak the clip............ well... 98 percent chance of that unfortunately.
