The Bolt that Would Not Die

Hey guys,

I need to replace one of my control arms (the rear non-adjustable one which is closer to the hood than the other), which would normally be simple except for the fact that I cannot get this bolt out. It is crazy just how badly it is stuck in there. I've tried:

- Putting a wrench on it and then jacking up the wrench (I think this is what finally rounded it off)
- Pretty much a whole can of PB Blaster
- Hammering the other end of the bolt hundreds of times
- Putting a bad control arm on the rear position, then putting a jack between the control arms
- A torch along the length of the part for 60 seconds

Pretty much the only thing I haven't tried is an extraction socket, which is the next step (need to buy a 19mm one). Then I figure I will jack up a breaker bar. If that doesn't work, I am 100% stumped.

I created this account because I figured one of you guys must have dealt with this before. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get this thing out of there?

Similar setup as the Camry. Mine didn't come out. Ever. The control arm was bent by a flatbed driver. In the end I ended up replacing the hub and both control arms as a set from a junkyard donor. 20 minutes to disconnect as a unit. If you do go the donor route be aware of ABS sensors and brake setup.

I use one of these with 1000-lbs*ft nut-busting torque: http://www.ingersoll-rand-airtools.com/ir2135ti.html

Regular air pressure is 90-psi. If a bolt gives me trouble, I turn up pressure to 120psi. I had troublesome rusted-on nut that wasn't budging. Turned up pressure to 120si and it just snapped head clean off 12mm bolt! Problem solved, just had to wait couple days while dealer ordered new bolt.

Proper power tools makes repair operations much, much faster and easier. I can pull engine in less than 1-hr now compared to 3-4 hrs before using hand tools.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Today I pulled the sub-assembly. There were some bits and bobs attached to the brake that I couldn't remove without maybe breaking them, but there is a cut-out around the bolt that I hadn't seen before. I have that soaking in a pool of PB Blaster and hopefully over the next couple of days that will seep around the bolt (and it won't rain). My 19mm extraction socket gets here on the 10th. I will try that next. If that's a no-go I guess I will have to buy/borrow an impact wrench.

Follow up question: Where can I order a new replacement bolt? I can't find this thing online anywhere.

Edit: I found it today in like the first two minutes of searching. Seems to be part 48703e here:
