Hi..I have a 2005 Sequoia Limited. I never noticed the blinking light for the Theft Deterrent system so I'm hoping somebody out there can help me. The blinking light comes on immediately after I take the key out of the ignition switch. I always remember it coming on after arming the system and locking all the doors. Is the light supposed to be blinking even if the alarm is not armed? For example, the car is in my garage right now. The doors are unlocked but the theft deterrent light is blinking. I just always figured it would only blink when the system was armed and the doors were locked. Any help would be great..thank you.

The blinking light is the immobilizer "key" light. As soon as it doesn't see it's chip anymore, the light starts to blink.
You'll notice if you have the gray key inserted, the blinking light will stay solid 2 seconds.
This tells you this is the "valet" key, or sub key as we call it.
The remotes for locking/unlocking/back door glass, are just that. A "keyless entry".

As far as this topic goes, it must be in the ignition switch. So....0.00 feet to answer your question.
Now,if ur asking about a smart key system, then I suggest you open a new post.
