Hello all,
I recently purchased a certified a camry hybrid 2008 from dealer. I use this car for commute to office two times a week (one way 65 miles). I usually drive at 65 miles/hr. For the first 30 miles car goes simply superb... but, sometimes, after 30 to 40 miles, I hear some kind of ticking noise (randomly) from the rear seat (near the battery). This sound is very annoying and irritating.

As I mentioned, I hear this noise some times, NOT always, and that too after I drive about 30-40 miles. Toyota service center is about 2 miles from where I live and I am afraid this sound may not come when I take the car to the service center. If I cannot reproduce the sound then I guess technician will have no clue about the problem.

Did any one come across this issue? any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I don't have a clue, but I will hazard a guess.

The opening you see behind the rear seats is a cooling duct for the batteries. I wonder if there is a fan there, and after 30-40 miles the car wants to start cooling it off back there and runs a fan. If so, and the fan blades are touching the cover, you will get a ticking sound.
