What does everyone think of the TRD springs?

I can get these for about $210 and I would get my friend who is a mechanic to help with the install.

Are they similar to other springs at the same cost?

My goal is to achieve the lowered more aggressive look without sacrificing too much ride quality. I don't really care as much for the handling improvements although I obviously wouldn't complain.

Also keep in mind that where I live there is a lot of snow and ice in the winter and also the roads aren't always in the best condition.

Also, on a separate note, what is everyones thoughts on putting decals on your vehicle. I absolutely hate when people put TOYOTA across the back windshield, lol (just my opinion) but say If I installed TRD springs would it be acceptable for me to have a small TRD logo in my rear side window or something like that. I could do the same with my rims manufacturer and whatever other aftermarket parts i I install.

Trd springs will be the best option for you in Canada. I tried the tein s tech, they have the most aggressive drop but too low for driving around everyday, especially in the winter time. You will just got stuck everywhere. Ride quality is bit stiffer compare to stock but still good for everyday comfort driving.

$210 sounds reasonable (we paid more shipping and brokerage fee to ship it to Canada) But do the installation yourself, it is pretty easy to do with the right tools.

Go check out the lowering springs thread, tons of info there.

I love my TRD springs & you will love the better handling, even if it's not a big deal to you now. :D

As far as decals, I don't like big ones but I love the small ones that my wife made me. I personally don't care for the manufacturer decals though on my car. :thumbsdow

The ride on the trd springs is really stiff compared to stock. you can feel ALOT of the bumps on the road. much improved handling though, and perfect drop height for canadian roads (well edmonton, alberta). and almost eliminates the wheel gap, looks great.

I don't think the ride is much different from stock with my TRD springs at all. The handling is much improved but the ride quality is very similar to stock IMO. The progressive rate portion of the spring is very soft for a soft ride but the rest of the spring is firmer for better handling.

I am more interested in the aggressive look then I am the handling. Right now i think I have a 3-4 finger gap above the wheels. I have the steelies on now so is have to check again with the rims on later but I would like the gap to be 1-2 fingers with the rims on.

I am worried about the springs you posted being too low for winter driving. This is my every day car so I will be driving it during snowstorms and all that.

2.4L on TRD = firm ride, but 1.8L on the same spring delivers a nice ride, there is a reason....

From what information I have gathered, if you have an XRS dropped on TRD the extra weight from the 2.4L puts you past the comfort part of the progressive rate on the TRD springs and right onto the more aggressive rate of 210#. The lighter 1.8L cars have those few critical extra mm of height that allow them to still enjoy and almost stock ride, but press against the higher spring rate as progressive springs usually deliver.

i have the 2.4 xrs and it feels the same on bumps for me nothing much changed but the ride feels better when it comes to steering plus higher speed feels more stable without the side to side drift/bounce feeling. it feels like mine almost drop 2" on the front, i used to can get my 3 ton jack under the front tow hook with plenty of clearance now i have to push the car up to get it under.

When you lower the center of gravity on a car, you'll automatically notice an increase in handling ability, that said some springs are better than others in that respect. TRD and Eibach are some of the mildest drops available for the 10th gen so I doubt that you'll have any problems. The advantage of the Eibachs is the lifetime warranty and it sits a little bit lower than the TRD springs.

If you're worried about road clearance issues then get a drop that's less than 2" all around.

Check out this thread and search for a few posts, there have been postings of wheel gap photos in the thread.
