For the most part, superchargers will give you more horsepower, but a turbo is more economic.Turbos run from your cars exhaust, and therefore get very hot, meaning youll have to do some periodic maintenance on it, and youll also have to get an intercooler.
actually the average turbocharger can boost much more than your average supercharger. for example, the TRD s/c for camrys has maxxed out at 7psi. a garret t3/04 hybrid turbo however less money can sometimes give you 20+ psi. there are several types of s/c's, from modified roots (TRD), to lysholm, to centrifugal. roots s/c's cannot boost more than 13psi safely, because it compresses the air after the supercharger, and there is a chance that pressure could backflow into the s/c's impellers. a lysholm can boost much more than 13, but heat is a huge issue. centrifugal impeller gains boost as rpm increases, so you only get full boost at redline. any one of these superchargers can drain as much as 40-60hp just in order to run them... the good thing is the roots/lysholm s/c's gain full boost by 2000rpm generally.
the main advantage with the turbo is there is very very little parasitic drag on the engine, meaning it might take away 10-20hp max in order to get it going. since a typical street engine is only about 1/3 efficient, 2/3 of that energy escape mostly through heat in the exhaust. a turbo takes advantage of this heat and puts it to use. a well sized turbo will spool up by 3K rpm, giving u full boost till redline. another advantage is the ability to electronically control the boost level at the touch of a button. with a supercharger you increase boost by installing a smaller diameter pulley.
as for heat, i would say that you only need an intercooler if you are running >7psi. cooling the charge air is going to make any car more efficient (and powerful), but is obviously going to have more of an effect when you are shoving 15 psi into an engine with 9:1 compression, whether its s/c or t/c.
i believe the wraith was pushing 13psi when it ran a 13.9, but justin has told me he wants it much higher than that

somehow i feel that we havent seen half of the wraith's power yet....
