Turn ignition on, lose all power, rinse and repeat

Hello,

I had a new problem crop up on my 2001 Camry LE 2.2L.
I turn the ignition key to position ACC and then ON with all electronics good. As soon as I turn to start, I hear a single click and then immediately lose all power. I wait 5 minutes and the power is back and I repeat with the same results. I checked the battery, 11.8V, looks ok. Could either the ignition switch or the starter motor be tripping a circuit breaker that has an auto-reset? What steps should I be taking to diagnose the problem? I do have a Power Probe 3.

Have you tried to jump it and see if it does the same thing.
Battery voltage isn't ideal for a start sequence.

Battery voltage is garbage 12.6v or better.

Check that the battery cables are clean and tight. Also press all the relays in the fuse box down to make sure none are loose.

Battery is too low, could also be a bad connection somewhere

11.8v resting voltage is too low. I would get the battery load tested, if it was here.

Looks like it is the battery. Weird symptoms had me fooled. All the connections are good. Tried recharging the battery and it came back with "bad battery". Tried repairing the battery and could not. Will be swapping out this afternoon.
