Hey guys,

I tried searching but can't find exactly what I am looking for. I would like to replace the front stock speakers in my 2000 Camry with some components and have a few questions:

1. Where can I mount the tweeters? My cam didn't come with the factory tweeters in the sail panel.

2. Where do you guys put the crossover that comes with the components?

3. How do I determine what size speakers will be a direct fit? I see there are different speaker sizes (6.5, 6.75) and also different mounting depths.

Thanks mucho!

That's wierd, mine came with the factory tweeters. Was your Camry a CE by any chance? I would look for parts for the sail panel that is molded for factory tweeters. You should be able to find the part # at www.toyodiy.com or see if someone is parting out a camry and get them from there. They won't be exact fits but I was able to keep aftermarket tweeters in there with some wire and electrical tape.

Put it in the door, but make sure you cover that crossover with a plastic bag, otherwise you will have crap sounding tweeters because of the moisture has corrodded your crossover. (I speak from experience). The factory system has the tweeters wired in parallel.

3. How do I determine what size speakers will be a direct fit? I see there are different speaker sizes (6.5, 6.75) and also different mounting depths.

I used 6.5 JL audio speakers in the door. I had to drill into the metal in the door to mount it. You won't be able to use the original bolts unless you make your own bracket. Also be careful in the speaker holes. I sliced my hand up in there.

I have polk audsi DB651's i believe, the component set, and i was able to just fit the tweeter into the factory dome without using any additional brackets, the crossover went in behind the door panel and 2way taped down tight after having the cover come off once and move around my door, and the 6.5 that came with it just fit into the factory mount with the included mounting bracket.

The perfect place I found to mout the tweeters is in the kick panels with a small mdf ring that angles them towards the opposite seat. With the tweeters there, the sound stage was perfect in terms of width and accuracy! And to top it off, it is easy to do with no need for slipping lots of wires throught the little grommets for the doors.

Cross overs was under the seat.

Thanks for the great ideas guys! I have a Camry CE that didn't come with the factory tweeters, does anybody know if the sail panels with the tweeters can fit in my car? I'd go look for some at a junk yard if they will fit.
