Unknown wires on back of radio 2013

I am trying to replace my factory Panasonic 86140-02150 radio on my 2013 Corolla S with an aftermarket radio. The factory radio is a 6.2 inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, AM, FM and a DVD and easily found on the internet. There is no navigation, backup camera or satellite radio. It has steering wheel controls for volume, change track/station and mode. It does have six speakers but not JBL.

I have never done this before but I have watched numerous YouTube videos in preparation. I have learned all about wiring harnesses and speaker wires and constant wires and illumination wires and the antenna adapter that I need for this model of Corolla. I bought all of that.

Finally, today for the first time, I have removed the old radio and have been taken aback to discover wires no one has ever mentioned before in any of those videos.

I am hoping someone can enlighten me. The picture shows my old radio removed and the connectors I'm sure of from my new radio plugged in.

So on the far right is the 70-1761 Metra harness (in two parts) that does all the basic features - like speakers, power wires, etc. On the far left is the antenna adapter.

Since I took the picture I've discovered the big gray wire in the middle with the gray connector plugs into my USB/Aux port.

So what I have left is the 28 pin mystery connector with about 15 very small multi-colored wires in it (some with black tape on) and the other connector with a single peach-colored wire I've labeled SWC? because I suspect it might be steering wheel controls.

Can anyone help me with those? I thought the SWC should have two wires, based on things I've read. And what those 15 little wires could possibly be connecting to is a mystery to me still.

I just this moment realized/remembered I also have an overheard microphone for the bluetooth. Could that be what the peach wire is for, not SWC? One wire seems odd. Does it ground somewhere else?

So if that's true does that mean the steering wheel controls are mixed in somewhere in the 28 pin connector? And still, what are all those wires for?

Thanks for any help. I'm sitting here with my car torn apart.

Only the harnesses and the dash kit.

But I have since found a picture of the 28 pin connector so I will post it to help anyone else coming along with the same question.

This is aftermarket but it appears to match my Corolla exactly. It says it's for Toyota and Subaru.

Now the only mystery is the peach-colored single wire, which is clearly neither for the microphone nor the steering wheel controls.

Come join me on my new thread. Even you dinosaurs who are too old and fossilized to learn anything new.

It covers getting the steering wheel control buttons working with the new head unit.

By the way, I'm considerably older than you with your 47 years, I had my license sooner and I've been driving longer. But I'm not too old to learn something new and have fun doing it.

Stick with your '52 Studebaker, if you want. I'm sure it does everything you need it to do.

But it still amazes me that grown adults have the attitude:
"I'm not interested in this particular thing so you shouldn't be either."

How crazy is that?
Thanks for sharing this information. The link is not working. Did you find what the peach-colored cable was for?
