As far as the grinding, Less than 1/8th of an inch or so. Didn't really measure, just took a handheld grinder to it. Pretty easy.

OK, since nobody else asked it, I'll ask...

By shaving 1/8" off the caliper, what have you done to the structural integrity of the caliper? It was designed and manufactured by Toyota to a certain thickness for that particular metal for a reason. If it was meant to be 1/8" thinner, don't you think Toyota would have done that? They are pouring extra metal (= more money) with each caliper they need to manufacture. Maybe with a stronger metal composition, they could make a thinner/lighter caliper, but that is what aftermarket parts are intended to do. IMHO you just created a major stress/breakage point on the OEM caliper. I'm glad that you found a "solution" to get your Highlander wheels to work, but I would never jeopardize the safety of my family by messing around with something like grinding down brake calipers.

I think you are over thinking it.

It was less than 1/8th of an inch, and it was just the brake pad retainer "bar" closest to the hub, not the actual caliper body itself.

In my original thread, I showed the exact same car. Didn't claim to be the first, but I have better pictures, and good info about it, where the other has crappy pictures and NOTHING about fitment and mods to get tehm to fit.

BTW: $600 for all 4 +shipping

 

when i first herd about about being able to put 19 highlander wheels in my camry i called the dealer for a price they said $506.36 each wit out tire my answer was no way now i'm looking for one parked in a mall for a five finger discount %
