Hi everyone, just jointed the Toyota Nation post. Lots of great help and ideas provided. I just wanted to share my experience. I installed in my 2021 Rav4 XLE today Kicker 47KSC3504 3 1/2" dash speakers. I purchased them from Crutchfield. They are 4 ohms which is what the car head unit and door speakers supply. Its recommended to stay with the same ohms as the other speakers and head unit. Otherwise, there will be impedance distortion in the speaker and since the head unit and other speakers have higher impedance, they will draw less current which means not as much power is driven to the speaker, will not be able to get as loud as you would with 4 ohms. The speakers have a silk tweeter which gives a crisp warm balanced sound. The speakers came with 2 in-line crossover harnesses which you need to install to protect the tweeter from getting destroyed by the base. I also ordered from Crutchfield the Metra 72-8110 speaker wiring harness to connect to the OEM harness connector. Had to splice the in-line crossover solid grey wire which was labelled (+) to the white wire (+) of the Metra harness. I used a heat shrink crimp connector. Did the same with the gray/black (-) of the in-line and connected to the black of the Metra with heat shrink crimp connector. I cut the Metra harness in half as the wiring was too long. The polarity of the Metra is not reversed, was straight plug & play. What a huge sound difference going to the Kicker dash speakers compared to the factory. Hope this helps someone who is planning to change their dash speakers.
