Upgrade XLE rear view mirror possible?

Is the 87810-07070 auto dimming / compass / HomeLink rear view mirror a plug and play replacement in the XLE, or the wiring harness or other functionality is not there?

Secondary question - is there a thread that explains how to purchase and download factory service manuals?

It’s worth a shot. Worst case scenario, it just needs +12v ignition. In the Camry it was a plug and play upgrade. I have not done it on my Avalon, as I thought all of the better mirrors had the camera piece for the safety sense and such. As far as shop manuals, it’s really not a downloadable thing. You can subscribe to their service for as little as a couple of days and see everything, but it’s flash based so no quick easy PDF to get.
