Just thought id post up my findings with the Urd Short shifter for the 2005+ Tacomas.

install was very easy, and a very nice improvement over stock. no more "rowing the boat". only one small complaint. getting it to shift into reverse is much harder then before. not inposible but tuff. not such a big deal.

anyone else ?

also 265/70/17's wont rub will they? thinking of getting the geolandar a/t's before winter hits

Yeah I have it too, reverse is harder at first. I wonder if using synthetic MT oil would help.

URD is the way to go

The short shifter mod is the best. maybe you should sell it to Toyota :naughty:
Whats next on the mod list, may a supercharger mod from the 2004 model to fit the 2005.
Is it possible to modify the 2004 to fit 2005. just wondering.

I noticed that it was harder in reverse also. It gets better with time. I don't know if it gets easier or if I'm just used to it........but it was nothing I was worried about. The shifter works great!

How easy is the URD short shift install for an average guy?

I know you guys thought it was no problem but my skills are limited. I do simple stuff like oil changes and regular maintenance but I'm no mechanic. I havn't done any real work to a car or truck in decades.

very easy. if you have a few simple hand tools, you can do it with out a problem. there has not been anyone with problems installing it who followed the directions. (that i know of)
