Going from memory, the three port plastic piece is a vaccum tap for components at the rear of the engine. I think the gas filter is the round gadget on the center of the valve cover toward the rear with the felt like filter inside that filters vaccum air to the EGR. The FSM on the sticky should diagram the installation for you.

 

the fuel filter is located on the right side of the motor, below the intake, to the right of the oil filter if you look thur the wheel well.

 

The fuel filter is on the right side below the intake assy....but looking thru the right wheel well...it is to the left of the oil filter,(aft of the oil filter) taking the starter off will make it easier too.

Gas filter, not fuel filter.

 

You guys are funny. Glenn is talking about the gas filter between the intake manifold and the VSV, and you keep telling him about the fuel filter.

 

Also on the engine side of the upper intake mani near the rear there is a black plastic piece screwed in with 3 vac hose ports on it, could this be what the diagram is referring to?

Yep, that's the gas filter. It's a sealed unit so i just squirt carb cleaner through the ports once a year.
