As the title states...
My sister's 2016 Camry with 37K miles just got a CEL with the error code P0500. I was wondering if anyone had warranty repairs done on their Camrys for the vehicle speed sensor. I called the stealership and they said it would cost $175 to diagnose if it was covered under Toyota's 60K powertrain warranty and if it wasn't and decided not to do the repairs there, they would charge me $175 for the diagnostic. If it was covered under warranty it would be free.
I've checked on RockAuto for an aftermarket replacement VSS and its $160 while the OEM NTK is $310.
The question is, should I take the risk and bring it to the dealer to see if its under warranty? Or take it to an independent shop for diagnostics first.
Thanks for looking!
EDIT: I'll check to see if the connection is loose but was just trying to get a second opinion!
