I have a 2022 Venza XLE. My previous vehicle was a 2018 Camry SE that had a pre-collision warning, where if you were approaching the car in front of you too fast, it would beep and flash a warning saying "BRAKE!" and apply the brakes automatically for you. With all the safety options on my Venza XLE, it doesn't seem to have this feature. I had a few times in heavy traffic that traffic stopped suddenly and I had to jam on the brakes. If this was my 2018 Camry SE, it would have applied the brakes before I could. Can anyone out there say that this feature is on the 2021-2023 Venzas?

Most definitely has this feature. Why am I so certain? Simple. Our Venza damn near threw us through the windshield when it apparently thought "a frontal collision with an object was extremely high". There was actually zero chance of such a collision as I was not anywhere close to the car it thought we were about to hit. We were coming up on slower traffic in a continuous right turn lane, I was already coasting after initially braking to slow down, and just as I was about to start slowly accelerating again and follow the line of cars through the turn, BAM, the car slams on the brakes. I'm surprised we didn't get rear ended. Fortunately we were only going maybe 15 MPH at the time which made it easier for the cars following to stop. My wife's response was rather humorous though. She looked at me quite incredulously and said why the hell did you do that? At first I don't think she believed me when I told her the car did it. I'll bet the drivers behind us also said some version of WTF are you doing...

I seem to remember there's a sensitivity setting, I set mine to the lowest value.

Yes, that big red BRAKE can be scary when the system is being applied and you as the driver see nothing to warrant this heart attack moment. At slow speeds as you back into a spot it will override your driving if you exceed its allowance.
It can save a light bumper ding if that’s a concern. I personally don’t love it if it goes off in a situation where you’re making a last second lane change and it screams BRAKE, so unless you are a easily distracted driver you should leave it on.
Too much technology can be aggravating in certain situations. As a driver with many decades experience, taxis, limos, and passenger sedans, I have a distaste for “safety sensors” that don’t track with my driving style or habits. This tech is heading to “autopilot” driving, where you are taken out of the equation and are reduced to a passenger. This is the future I fear. 👎🏼

Those systems are for really stupid people! If a person has any sense whatsoever and is responsible then they should be able to judge if a situation is occurring. However, too many people have there heads turned toward their stupid cell phones and they get what they deserve!

I encountered one of these systems in a rental and it almost got me killed! On a high speed road (50mph+) a car had turned off to the right and was going up another road. However, the $&$&^$^3!!!! computer decide that it was about to have an accident with that car and slammed on the binders! The cars behind me, including a semi, also had to nail the binders and came damn close to sending the rear end of that rental into the next county! With a phone call and some colorful language a friend at a nearby dealership told me how to shut that stupid thing off. Note: On most Toyota vehicles, holding the activation switch in the on position for three seconds will deactivate this stupid, insane and unnecessary death mechanism!

It is because of Bit Brother BS such as this that prevents me from EVER buying a newer car! My cut off is 2000 with the exception of a Ford Ranger. For that I will go to 2005 but, no later. I'm not going to ever purchase any car that has the amount of total BS that is in the newer cars. Screw that and screw Big Brother!

I'm happy to say that it finally worked for me. I was coming home yesterday and the car in front of me stopped suddenly and the auto braking took over! It beeped and displayed the red BRAKE! . Thank you for all that responded! I like to comment, even though the sensitivity is set the same as what my Camry was, the Camry was more sensitive. I had the Camry give me alarms when there was no reason to brake.

Re false alarms;
You’re driving home, it’s late night, been a long tiring type of day, I’m in HOV lane on the 495 East bound side, traffic is nil and then THE EFFEN RED BRAKE LIGHTS UP for no apparent reason scaring the $#!T out of me ! I’m thinking I’m going to hit something I cannot see, WTF happened ? This is the crap technology gives us, and they think autonomous driving vehicles are going to fly with most drivers, eff that BS, I want a human driver behind the wheel if and when I’m not driving. 😡 (that btw was my leased 2018 Camry XSE)

😅Just trying to figure out all the buttons! I thought the Highlander and Prius Prime were complicated.

Anyway, as soon as daylight I will check the roof as I was too tired yesterday to do it.

Best driving car since my 1985 Coup Deville.

Update! Tried lane tracing and freaked my wife out driving with my hands off the wheel. It was actually very smooth and accurate keeping me in the center on autopilot.

I have a 2021 Venza Limited that has left me dead in the water on SEVERAL occasions when attempting to pull into traffic. Basically, it determines that an impact is imminent and stops the car. OK, but then it becomes IMMOBILZED! So, if one tries to pull out in a gap in flowing traffic this system shuts the car down and leaves it DISABLED. Of course, the flowing traffic that may have even yielded as a courtesy observes someone pulling out halfway AND THEN JUST F'N STOPS!!!! I'm done with it and done with TOYOTA.
