Vibrating/shaking air filter box and intake?

When my 2001 Echo is in drive and I am stopped, the air filter box and that whole assembly as well as the intake hose shakes and vibrates and makes a noise. It doesn't happen in neutral or park or when I start driving. Any ideas? Also, when I was looking at this, I could see that when the car is put into or out of gear the engine moves slightly, is this normal?
Thanks

Yes the engine shakes a lot when in drive and at a stop.

It's normal....

What you need to do, is have someone sit inside while in drive and the AC on. Go out side and figure out where the noise is coming from. My rattle was actually the filler neck plastic where you fill up the windshield wiper fluid but others have had from the hood to rattle to air box to air hose. It could be anything.

Mine is developing a noise again, but I know it's bad... I just shift into neutral when I know it's gonna be a long light. I should figure out where the rattle is. I think most just live with it.

My 2001 Echo does the same thing. The valve and the box where the air filter sits seems to jiggle while the engine is on. When you first turn it on it doesn't seem to do it but after running about 20 minutes it becomes noticeable if you're looking at it.

Lemme know if you find out what it was!

How did you determine this?

Unless your motor is actually smacking the hood when you jam on the throttle,it probably is not the mount. I was thinking the same thing. The motor does seem to shake pretty good but it's designed to do so.

I also know it's not cheap to change the mount. Let us know if it resolved your issue.

Well it wasn't the mount as someone whose opinion I respected suggested. Thank God Toyota let me return the part. I'm posting a video of the problem. The engine moves a little when going in and out of drive but I've been told that's OK, it's the shaking of the area around the air filter housing that is the problem.

clearest footage at about 0:47

That's totally normal.

If it's rattling you can hear when in drive from the air box side... Then the solution would be to take out the air cleaner and tighten down the bolts ... if they are tight, take apart your air hoses and give the whole thing a cleaning... I'd spray a bit of armor-all on the hoses ... put it all back together and the noise should be gone.

If not, try loosen up the hoses again and give a good twist and tighten backup. There are other folks with this problem and have found a solution to it.

Something strange has happened. I changed the serpentine belt and this has greatly diminished the shaking/vibrating. Oddly, the only time I really notice it is if I'm on some sort of incline, either up or down (and stopped with my foot on the brake and the engine running).

I have the same problem, while I shift from Parking mode to driving mode I notice that my Air Box assembly starts shaking and that leads to vibration sound under the hood. Is there any way in which I can solve this issue?

I will say the serpentine belt replacement does help and a new (not ebay) belt tensioner helps a TON at least on my GF's matrix that was rattling like crazy while stopped in drive, reverse and when warmed up in park.
But for my echo I shoved a piece of foam down between the filter housing and the battery, stopped alot of noise!
