hello all
just joined.
car vibrates, jolts, shudders, oscilates (whatever we call it) when accelerating at speed of 50-60 mph, after it passes the 60 mph vibration disapears, tried it with up 85 mph no vibrations at all. this jolt is really worrying me that tranny is bad.
called toyota headquarter, they said my car not included in any recall campain and car is out of warranty, no help no support, need to pay for all repairs.
i read all here bout this issue ,just bought my car from private party 3 months ago as used with 82k , i know many experienced that but i could not find the answer to my problem besides the cvt trans .
changed all 4 new tires, balanced and aligned car, cleaned MAF sensor and TB, did all needed tuneup, plugs , airfilter , coolant. did not do anything with fuel filter or fuel pump.
i been driving toyotas forever since the 80's have some mechanical knowledge. i live in l.a .
can somebody help here or guide me to the best thread for this issue

With the assistance of a helper, watch how the motor torques with the blip of the throttle. Motor mounts is a strong possibility of the fail point, but need to watch for how much it moves with the throttle. Also listen for any metal on metal contact.

checked all motor mounts ,very solid , car wont move a bit when shifting from R to D or P. i increased the rpm to almost 1500 while on D and my feet on the brake. this problem happens only when i accelerate around 55mph range

Scan for codes.

CVT is challenging to troubleshoot. Over the years, owners have mentioned about a software upgrade on the K313 transmission. I think that’s the model transmission. My suggestion is to drain the cvt transmission and pull the pan for inspection.

One member ended up blowing the cvt even with the software patch.

no dtc recorded. i also checked on. the idea that it might bd the axles. all 4 boots are perfect. i was told tgat changing axles might help. toyta wouldnt recall this issue even though theres a recall campain on this year corolla.

Contact Toyota customer service and inquire with them about your vehicle using the vin. Also speak with the previous owner to see if they received a letter for a recall or TSB announcement.

That’s really all you can do for now.

called Toyota. opened a case blah blah.... they said my car dont have any recalls. no warranty. prior owner , old man gave me all his records. i also called the dealer at his town. no recalls were performed only oil changes. i cant explain this old man about it. hard to communicate. is there any way to check the transmission fluid level? i know it's not simple

i talked to my wife who drives the car now about 3000 miles/ 3 months. she said now that after we changed all 4 tires last week those vibration were reduced. and now much better but still there. does this lead to transmission ? dont know.

Curious, when accelerating up to speed during the vibration have you switched the transmission in neutral and did the vibration go away?

If that's the case, it wouldn't be a CV joint, engine mount or hubs. We would need to look at the torque converter and have an inspected by transmission professional. Lmk. Thanks.

Hello rocky and fellow toyota drivers. I have had the cabin shudder. Initially it was very brief and happened between 30 and 40 mph almost felt like going over the stay awakes on the roadside, then it stops. I had the torque converter replaced and it fixed it immediatly. That was 3 years ago and ive been having a metallic whining for awhile toyota service center said it was the muffler and replaced most of my exhaust nearly 2k, and was not the problem they replaced my condenser almost 1k ac works again but not the problem. I told them it was something along the serp belt but they said everything checked out. 1 week after condenser replaced. This is after 5 purge and fills on ac and another 10 checks for ac leak ac is finally fixed but no news on the matalic whine. Suddenly as I'm driving the car starts shaking like a flat tire but then I smell burned belt i pullover immediatly and pop the hood belts going nothings smoking, cars not loud shaking stopped. I go home check in the daylight and see the tensioner wheel had given out completely and the belt had gotten a few new lines etched into its top and some small peices of belt here and there. Replaced tensioner and belt. Started up fine turned off fine seems to run fine no more mettalic whine. However the cabin shudder is back!! What could a 10 second belt problem do to cause a new cabin shudder at between 30 and 50 mph? I've spent over 10k in repairs to this car in 5 years and only put 8k miles on it. Also curious why the knock sensor didn't trigger and shutdown abs awd traction etc. To protect itself considering I paid 800 for a new knock sensor install and wiring harness. Will toyota help cover the expense since thier shop never even bothered to check my concerns? They also claimed to rotate my tires but didn't they also claimed i needed a transmission fluid swap but I had that done with the torque converter and am good till 2027 according to toyota. I need help! A 12k car has turned into 26k they keep bleeding me while fixing nothing. I have failed the nys inspection 4 times outta 5 after having at the certified toyota dealer due to out lights due to pock marks on the new rotors from overheating despite paying for caliper services etc.. they copy and past green checks without actually checking anything and toyota says no warranty tough shit. I'd be in a new more expensive toyota if not for this behavior. Rear strut actuators that I removed in advance took them 15 minutes to install. Its literally 6 screws a clip and pop the molding back on. They charged me for 2 hrs of labor 300 and anot

her 800+ for the rear struts for the back door which i could have bought from toyota myself for less than 600. 3k this year in fixes and still have no car to drive.. afraid of damaging it more...
