Every time we have a lot of rain the wheel well in the trunk (boot) fills up with water. I have tried searching to understand how the water is getting in but cant find the problem. Anybody else had a similar problem? Corolla hatch

Make sure your seal around the hatch isn't dried out/rotten. That would be the first place I look.

As for finding the issue. I would go to the car wash with a friend. someone sit in the back of the car and someone spray the rear hatch till it leaks and then go from there.

But I'm willing to guess it will be the rear hatch seal

You could also get in the trunk, in a dark (enclosed) area, and have a friend shine a flashlight all around and look for light coming in.

Same problem here. Under the right taillight the water appears inside the trunk and ends up in the spare tyre hole. I took the tail light out. Sealed around its place with a tape and foil. So now sprayed the water again (sealed hole) still goes in ☹☹ No idea...

A few months back, I found out I had a huge amount of water in the trunk area and also under the front passenger seat, (I do not have a sunroof) had to remove the seats, center console and all the interior panels in the trunk, to get the carpet out to replace the jute padding that got wet. While I had it all out, I asked the wife to spray the rear of the car with the hose to see if I could see where it was coming from. At the rear about 2 inches under the passenger side taillight there's a bumper retainer bracket and every 2 seconds or so, drip...drip...drip. So, I removed the rear bumper, put silicone around both brackets, let it set up, reinstalled the bumper, went out and ran my car thru the local automatic car wash, not one drop, been that way since I did it.

It is easy to find the place. First station the car on a flat surface then please remove boot flap, spare wheel and side wall coverings. Pour a decanter full of water on the middle of the rear glass. (You may have added 4-5 drops of food colouring to decanter first.). That's it.:D:D:D:D:D
