On the tailgate, is it that center piece plate that's different? Does it feel heavier? How is the paint match?

No the the new leaf pak is there, I can see the helper spring (barely) in the one of his rear wheel. I did laughed when I read the beginning of your post, kinda a pun off your screen name. & figured you meant it that way!

 

bleh...i shouldn't have replaced my bent tailgate(hit&run) had i known about this back then heh..

guess their just up and replacing the tailgate shells...when i get mine i'll have to test it

 

hmm wonder if the 08's are effected by the tsb's.
i'm definitely on a 3pack of springs on my 08 trd sport

 

The paint match is great, I don't see a difference. The new tailgate does not feel any heavier. I cannot detect any difference between the new tailgate and the old one.

 

In a picture of a tailgate i saw from a guy who got it done looked entirely different....actually looked beefier, that looks just like stock to me

 

Looks like stock to me as well. The invoice lists part # 65701-04020 Gate Sub-Assy. Can't find what is the stock #.

 

oh, i see now.... I was comparing to mine that has an AAL. looked similar... my bad.

 

What someone needs to do is label the inside of their tailgate before going in for the replacement TSB (if it's not damaged), and see if they actually GET a different one!


:lol: Then we'll know if they even replaced it! Next question would be "What did they change?".

I'd be wondering if they even replaced it if it looks the same, and you didn't come in with it damaged.

 

He's got the new leaves, no doubt. The pictures show them. He will be a happy Taco owner!
