Glowing exhaust manifold usually means there is too much fuel going through the engine into the exhaust system. I would suggest you go back and recheck you work to make sure all the hoses and wires that you had taken off are connected to where they are suppose to be.

You were correct, I removed the idle control and found that it was a bit off center. Now the car is running great. Thanks for for the help and encouragement.
