The fastiest i ever gone was like 105 or 108mph maybe with the SOlara (5s-FE) But those days are over. I was young. Shit....

i think the max i went on my gen3 1994 camry was like
115-120 , not sure tho... man i was afraid i was gonna
get caught by some cop, so i just simply let go of the gas pedal, and it went all the way down to like 75mph ish ~

when it rains, i'd only stay at 60mph , and i dont even dare going like 65 or higher, just too risky...

 

back when i was crazy, 95 in the rain, 120 dry (mph for both)

but no more of that stuf now, i gues it got kinda old going that fast,

 

what i actually do now is drive like grandma on the freeway
when i come back from school, but this particular freeway
has like a downhill part where alot of people pick up speed so fast they wont even notice it, alot of been pulled over from the sneaky cops who hang out at the on-ramp entrance into the freeway, hehe... sneaky bastards -_-;;

i drive slow like at 65 mph' ish on the freeway,( cuz i want to see who wants to follow my behind or switch lanes, lol ) and then what really pisses me off is when some dude uses the slow lanes to go like 80mph , go to the freakin left lane you moron!
and another thing is when they dont even know how to signal when they make a lane change...err that ticks me off , lol
i admit i switch lanes also sometimes w/o signaling , but i signal like 80% of the time.....
but another funny thing is when they switch lanes and they also came upon another slow poke person and would have to break all hard... muahha... yea take that u bastard :lol:
anyways if someone were to crash into me on the freeway, yep ur gonna be the one at fault

 

Hey Guys and Gals, Im new to this forum and i thought this was an interesting thread to start with. For everyone that knows Toronto, I was going down Bathrust St (North of Elgin Mills) going about 210 KM/h (130 Mph). Thats the fastest I've gone in my 93' Cam V6. Not very scary since i didn't notice until my buddy goes to me that we hit 210! Then i got all giddy!

 

I dunno 2 much about trannys, gears or engines but from what little I know:

Back on Topic: I think its going down because when u have Over drive off, you disable your 4th gear and your car only goes up to your 3rd. Going 100 in 3rd isn't the smartest thing to do. And when u let go of the gas, the car will slow down a lot faster because that gear isn't meant for that high of a speed. Try putting ECT on and OverDrive on. I think what happened is normal.

 

Eh it depends where you drive, I can understand going that fast if you must go a flat straight road every day with no traffic. To get to school (I live on campus) I have to go on a highway called the 217, its essentially a perfectly flat and straight highway that goes for about 2 miles. Ive hit 135mph many, many times on that highway (usually around 1-2 in the morning when nobody is around) before the fuel cuts off. I have a s/c V6, so luckily it doesnt take long to get going that fast. I would be scared going 120 in a 4banger though, wouldn't it take forever to get it up that high?

But basically, all i'm saying is, its not necessarily THAT unusual depending on where you are driving every day.

yea its pretty slow for a 4-banger. (for reaching 120 mph) cuz mines a 94 i4 automatic camry, lol....

but it costs like 3400 bux, dang but i think its hella worth it, cuz wouldnt it be funny to beat those integra type-r, civics, accords, honda civic SI with an AUTOMATIC camry? man i dream about the supercharger so much....must.....get....it....ASAP!!!
but i just wonder how realiable that S/C is? cuz it doesnt seem like too many people have them yet... i guess rippmods is still trying to improve there 5sfe s/c kit ....
that thing will at least add about 80hp to 100hp to your 5sfe, and now thats amazing....

ANYHOW, im wondering if it has anythign to do with the rain and my cold air intake sitting at the bottom front left fender getting all that rain..... who knows?!

i dont really have to worry about getting pulled over since 1 i got a radar detector that saved my ass many times (never got ticket) and 2 i know many people that work as cops and well thats just a benefit... and 3 ive got 8 warnings for speedings, 1 of them i was going 143 with my friends honda accord... ive talked myself out of each (the one where i was pulled over for going 143 with honda accord, i was racing, and the cop goes... "want a ticket" i say no officer "then stop racing") what sucks about warnings is that they call your parents, im 17... ehhh my parents got upset and because of that they wont let me drive their cars since their fearful that i could injury myself easier since their cars are v8s... LOL... gotta love your parents

I did 90 on the highway when it was raining with less than 10 feet of visibility because I knew there wouldn't be any cops out. It's a stupid thing to do, although I had no problems. Yeah and seriously slow the fuck down. Two days before Thanksgiving, I got a ticket for $330, I was going 88 in a 55. Which is a lot seeing that I've spent less than $330 on repairs on the car which I've had for 20,000 miles.

 

anyhow going it reaches 90, switches to 5th and is about 3,700rpm.. then all of a sudden drops to 3,500rpm and like slowly climbs back up

I think that is the torque converter locking up. Completely normal.

 

Where is the O/d button or what ever located? by the cruise control buttons?

 

on automatic camrys, its on the side of the shift knob, but i'm not sure about manual cars...

No such button on the stick cars, fifth gear is O/D

What are the practical uses for o/d for auto tranny?

I know on manual's o/d is 5th gear but what does it do on auto?

 

i actually think that the car goes faster when the o/dis off...
1st gear is the same...but 2nd gear is where the engine can rev up to 4x rpm, when it changes gear at 2,900rpm... correct me if im wrong but wouldn't u get better speed if u rev up ur close to the red line?... it works for me that's all im saying...i've done many comparisons...unless im gonna do 120mph,then i drive with the od off...

 

one other thing, i just turn the o/d on and the car actually goes on 4th gr...
