I was about a fender ahead of a new gen auto mustang gt up to 60 when i let off. we gradually got into it from a roll, and i heard his car open up so i know he was on it, and i was a fender ahead towards the end of my second gear. he then pulled behind me for about 5 secs, probably to see what the he!! he was messin with, then pulled up beside me and asked me what the he!! was under the hood. I then gladly said.. just a 3.5 v6 .., then he sped off.

Then just last week i took it to the track the get some numbers just to compare it to my 00 Lincoln LS v8 (avalon = wife's car), and my buddy who was talkin crap about the avalon came along in his 05 sentra se-r spec-v with intake and exhaust. he was messin with me one night and from a dead stop in the LS, and we were pretty much dead even (with my 20 inch wheels on it, and a big speaker box in the trunk), then a couple days later he got 2 car lengths from the avalon at the track. i knew i was gonna beat him but i just had to shut him up.

my best avalon time slip in the 1/8 was:
2.328 60 foot ( best was 2.237)
6.2 660
75.89 mph
9.513 1/8 mile

i know i can get a 9.4 in the 1/8 if i launch better, so i plan to go again probably next weekend with some friends from work to take some more names.

sorry for the long post.

so the avy can beat a sentra specV? amazing - the specv is pretty light with a big engine.

yea.. they are not that bad for what they are 2.5 i-4 with light body and 185 hp. 2 of my co-workers each own one and i messed with the stock one when my ls was all stock without the bigger wheels and everything, and the LS was steadily pulling on him after first gear, and the avalon with steadily pull on the LS.

the next time i go to the track my other friends are begging for a piece of the avalon. the only ones that really matter is one with a 06 dodge charger hemi w exhaust, 07 chevy trailblazer ss w intake/exhaust ,and an 06 chevy cobalt ss supercharged w intake/exhaust . these guys will probably beat me but if i can hang with them that will be good enough to say that my wifes grocery getter can hang with their oversized engines and supercharger in the cobalts case  i really didn`t plan on putting this car on the track, but the people i work with talk too much junk. i guess thats what a warranty and early oil changes are for :whatwhat:plus i need to get rid of the crappy michelin tires it came with :D

I don't know that I'd be bragging about beating an F-150. Kinda like saying I beat up a 12-year-old kid.

...but, as you said, on impulse I handed my buddy's Dodge Neon SRT-4 one in his "Loss" column. Two car lengths in less than a quarter mile.
I probably need to mention that most of the people in Hawaii that drive F150 like to piss people off by cutting in front with no signal light acting like they own the island.

Thats awesome that the supercharged 1mzfe beat a 350z, now thats cool.

I can just see it now...

...Hey nice expensieve sports car there! What? only fits one other passenger and a carry on suitcase? wanna race?......"hah, sure"... (as his jaw drops when the full sized luxury sedan shows him his tail lights...)

this makes me want that supercharger that much more...

i'll have to pay more attention to the cars that i beat.

I'm having a hard time fathoming the wack notion that someone would even want to beat on and abuse a 34-40k car just to race it. Unreal...but to each their own I guess.

i see where u are coming from man, but that really isn`t the case. when i drive the avalon i treat it like i paid 38 grand for it. no matter how much i baby it, at one point i get the urge to get on the gas a little bit up to the speed limit. once in a while, there will be someone on the road who wants to mess with you, and i dont see anything wrong with 6 secs of fun. i`m paying the car note so i might as well enjoy my vehicles little extra power once in a while right? plus i`m 22 with a grown up mentality but i`m still young and gotta enjoy life. i really didn`t buy the avalon for my wife to race everywhere; it just happened to be faster than i thought it was so why not get on it once every few months.. but yea, to each is own.

so is your lincoln LS faster than the avy?

hell yeah, the avy is a fun fast car, i dont know why its looked at as a clunky sedan, and from some friends i have at toyota dealerships (they are mechanics) say you can beat the pants off this engine and it will take it, my dad beat on it for 20k and my mom had it for another 15k and when i took it before i had my car, i opened it up and hit 130 pretty easy with my sister and luggage in the car on a full tank, so its got guts. hell i got my first (and only) speeding ticket in my avy and it was 96 in a 70 and its only because they cought be before i could get faster. (airplane speed trap on a clear day w/ no traffic, but i was speeding ;) )

beating on a car with 30-40k that can take 130-140k, its still almost essentially a new car, and with everything worn it, i say beat on it more, lol. its still a toyota and they have been making the engine and drivetrain since the mid 90's for at least 3 models so parts arent crazy expensieve like a benz or bmw.

I SAY ENJOY YOUR AVALON! ITS A SWEET CAR
