That's not true actually. Sport mode give you direct throttle control instead of a delayed response. You'll notice not having to press the pedal as far to go. It also changes the transmission shift points. You'll notice it won't upshift as fast. Going higher speeds it will maintain the gear longer. There is no difference in handling changes. The suspension is not electronic.
Does anyone know a workaround to Sport Mode being turned off when the engine is turned off? It's irritating that Toyota makes it necessary to select it every time.
Well what exactly does it mean for the handling to become more precise? What is actually going on? is the suspension electronically controlled/changed? Sound like something you would explain to a minivan driving mom from the salesperson! = )
Is there any downside to driving in Sport Mode all the time? Like does it waste more gas, decrease the life of the transmission, etc? I like driving in Sport Mode, but I don't want to do any long term damage.
Only downside is that it uses more gas because of the direct pedal to engine response. As well as the transmission shift point changes. Going at speeds where the transmission would upshift, the transmission will hold the gear longer. Doesn't harm the transmission at all. Just explaining how sport mode will utilize more fuel. By all means if you love to strive in sport mode, there's no issues doing so.
