whats the best shock overall for our cars? not necessarily loweried just for spirited daily drivers.

please after voting explain your decision so we can all learn from this.
the poll will be open indefinitely so over a long enough span of time we should have acquired a fair amount of data to use as a reference regarding this question. so we may all make better informed decisions.

the best stock replacement is probably the GR-2... because it's pretty much the same as stock, but very nice quality and has a lifetime warranty.

I chose the koni yellow though, because it's a far far better shock and is also adjustable to meet your own needs. it handles both lowering springs and stock springs (not something GR-2s do very well), and it also has a life time warranty. yeah, they're a lot more expensive, but worth it, especially if your car is lowered, because if it is, you're just going to blow the GR-2s anyway and end up having to get konis later on...

the GR-2 lifetime warranty is void if you lower your car a decent amount, koni yellows also have a lifetime warranty though.

Yeah... the Koni yellows I just ordered not too long ago costed about the same as my silvertop 20v... both of which costed more than my $600 corolla lol

I have never used the Konis, but they have a very good reputation worldwide.
I have used the GR-2 on every vehicle that I have replaced shocks on except my pickup truck (didn't think I needed to spend the extra money)
I am verry pleased with the GR-2s because they give slightly firmer damping than stock for a very reasonable price.

I might go with Koni yellows later on, only because I autocross, but for the street the GR-2s are great.

I'll let you know how much I life the konis vs. the GR-2s on the auto-x course.

actully, surprisingly the bilstein's priced out to 312.90$ b4 tax and shipping. which makes them a far more viable option than the koni's or coilovers. making them hard to pass up when the kyb's are 192.64$ before tax.

but I agree when spending almost a grand for a suspension mine as well go full coilovers for a little more than shocks and springs.

Those TC Bilstein shocks suck IMO. They're only Touring Class and not the stiff mono-tube design Sport struts available for higher end cars. They're an OE replacement shock just like the KYB GR2s.

Koni Yellows are the best shocks that money can buy for our cars.

Bilstein brochure said:
TOURING CLASS (TC)
Bilstein Touring Class original equipment replacement twin tube gas pressure shocks and struts feature the same German engineering and quality as the world famous Bilstein Monotube Gas Pressure Shocks in a competitively priced twin-tube design.
:disappoin

Point taken.

I dunno, I guess we'll have to wait on the OP's answer to those question.

On another note, the main advantage of GC + Koni Yellow's is the ride comfort that they offer over a full monty coilover setup. I've ridden in some slammed cars with this setup and the ride quality was still plenty comfortable over rough roads and broken pavement.

koni/gc is tried and true that's for sure i was talking to a fellow ae92 owner at a toyota meet on sunday and he said it is a bit stiff for daily driver for him at least, but he has to travel gravel roads some

so it might be a matter of taste but i would suggest riding in similar setups to what you are considering if you want to be REALLY sure
