Any A series will bolt up, however the 4afe's have a 6 bolt crank and most 4ages are 8 bolt. so you would need an 4age 8 bolt flex-plate (and possibly torque converter) to bolt it up.

IMO its not worth doing a 4age swap if your planning on running an auto.

As for other parts you will need, 4age Loom and ECU, and axillaries (starter/alternator/PS pump).

A search will turn up these answers if you can be bothered.

With regards to the wagon/sedan the ones we recieved (NZ) were the same.

What motor would I put in??
I'd leave the standard one in and just save up and buy a better car.

But hey thats just me, All I can say is price up your options, 4age swaps seem to be extremly expensive over there.

Answer these questions

1. Why do you want to change the motor in you car?
2. What do you want to end up with? (Ie. performance goals)
3. Whats you budget
4. Can you do the work yourself?

4age's have practically no low end power

a 4age block will NOT bolt up.... something about the tranny is slightly different... you would need to use your engine block and get early (85/86) 4age internals...

an 8 bolt flexplate and 4age torque convertor is easy to find.... i actually have them lying around here

there's an indentation that the FE motors have that the ge's didn't... (including the 7a).... something on the tranny, apparently

i went over this in another thread... this info was from a guy over on mr2oc.com who used to rally the sedans, and had run into this problem...
