I have a 1994 camry LE, with the I4. Its a coupe. How do I know what diameter the rear sway bar is, because I need to replace the bushings and they offer a 15/16mm, and a 17mm. Thanks, any advice appreciated.

Is it me??? But why not just get a small metric ruler and measure the diameter of the rsb? The rsb is easily accessible without jacking up the car....at least for a small person.

Jobee here is the best thing to do.

Go to Toyota Parts and ask for a RSB bushing and look at the side of it. It will say 15. I swear that is the size because I just looked at one last week.

The 92-96 4CYL has the same diameter of 15mm

part number 48818-33031

The Spec Sticky says this:
17mm Rear (0.67") for the 4cyl or SE models
15mm Rear (0.59") for the other V6 models

24mm Front (0.94") for the 4cyl models
23mm Front (0.90") for the 6cyl models

these numbers apply to the 3rd Gen, and i believe sizes changed for the 4th Gen

the Gen 3 Parts List says this:
Sport Package: #48812-33070
4 Cyl Standard: #48812-33030
V6 Standard: #48812-33020

go to this link

http://camrystuff.com/manuals/Gen3/General/gen3_part_list.pdf

The part number for the bushing is on Page #950 upper right hand corner
4CYL p/n: 48818-33031
V6 p/n: 48818-33011

Everything about the GEN3 rear suspension is on that page

Check for yourself!!!!

Venom: he is asking for the bushing, the p/n u gave is for the actual rear sway bar!!!

My guess is that Toyota did that to keep the I4 and V6 handling characteristics similar. I4(lighter car) = stiff sway bars + soft springs, V6(heavier car) = stiff springs + soft sway bars. I don't know, that's just my guess.

Got the bushings last night from toyota dealership. It was 17mm, and was kind of a biotch to replace. The car is pretty rust free except for the bolt on the car basically. With such small bolt used on the sway bar brackets, the heads just broke right off, even with penetrating oil sitting on them for half an hour. I had to drill and retap the mounts, and used locktight on the new bolt I installed. But it was worth it, because a lot smoother ride, and no noise in the back. Thank you for the info guys.
